The gates knew your record

The original Chaos gate admitted characters with more than five kills. The Order gate admitted characters with fewer than five. Failing either check left the character at 10 hits and played the gate’s punishment effect.

Chaos Isle survives in the map and world data. It had a bank, a seven-stone service row, the Peace in Chaos Tavern, Chaos Guild Hall, houses, and internal lifts. No placed Order Island survives, so the Redux Order counterpart is openly documented as a reconstruction.

Shields made allegiance visible

Four shield stations survive in the Dec. 1999 world: two Chaos and two Order. Their signs warned players to take one only. Classic uses Admirable fame, a 10,000-gold charge, and newbie protection for the reconstructed shield service.

The Duel Pits were connected to the world

Britain, Vesper, Buccaneer’s Den, and the Help Desk hub all had routes into the arena waiting area. The arena supplied reagents, arrows, bolts, and provisions. Original GM rules allowed official duels there and required both sides to agree before the loser could be looted.

The pits were not a detached matchmaking menu. They were a place players could walk into, watch, argue over, and return from with a reputation.
