PvP, murder counts, and the Duel Pits
The current murder threshold, guarded-town response, Chaos and Order access, and original duel rules.
- Murderer
- 6 counts
- Decay
- 11,520 minutes
- Guards
- Instant-kill response
Open conflict
Player killing was allowed on original NOS, and it remains part of Classic. The old rules asked players not to farm new or obviously weaker characters without provocation, prohibited bug abuse, and separated legal PvP loot from guard-kill exploits.
| Place or state | Rule |
|---|---|
| Guarded town | Qualifying criminal aggression brings lethal guard response. |
| Wilderness and dungeons | No town-guard protection; carry what you can replace. |
| Murderer | Six or more murder counts. |
| Duel Pits | Do not loot unless both sides agreed before the match. |
| Newby Dungeon | No player killing; entry is skill-gated. |
Chaos and Order
The Chaos gate accepts characters with more than five kills. The Order gate accepts characters with fewer than five. A failed check leaves the character at 10 hits and plays the original punishment effect.
Classic shield stations use Admirable fame, a 10,000-gold charge, and newbie protection. Chaos Isle is preserved in the old map and world data. The modern Order counterpart is a clearly documented Redux reconstruction because no placed Order Island survived.
The Duel Pits
The arena network connected Britain, Vesper, Buccaneer’s Den, and the Help Desk hub to the waiting area. The arena supplied provisions, arrows, bolts, and reagents. Original GM rules permitted official duels there and required both sides to agree before looting.
